regret to do sth. 对将要做的事感到遗憾。本句为对已说的话感到后悔。

regret to do和regret doing的区别：

1.regret to do：基本意思是“懊悔，惋惜，遗憾”，指对于已经发生或不愿发生但又不得不发生的事情在心里产生一种伤感或抱歉，但已经没有挽回的余地。引申还可指“抱歉”。

例：I regret to have to do this, but I have no choice.

2.regret doing：regret后接名词，表示对某事后悔，后接动词不定式表示因将要做某事而感到抱歉或不快，后接动名词表示因做了某事而感到后悔，后接从句表示对某事感到遗憾。
